This is a static analysis run, not an instrumented playback
Every finding comes from inspecting the package. The six learner profiles were applied to that content analytically. Each profile is a defined set of failure conditions, and we checked the course against them.
We did not drive this course in a browser and we are not reporting timings. There are no session durations, no click paths and no dwell times in this report, because we did not measure any. A client engagement adds an instrumented pass. This published run does not have one.
Verdict
Not Ready for Deployment
Triggered by the hard gate. Both the completion criterion and the success criterion are set to view, at 75% of slides. The course's own 80% pass mark on its single graded question is never consulted by any reporting path.
A second, independent reason: a fixed 1024-pixel canvas that does not reflow, teaching a task its audience performs on a phone.
Scorecard
No stated objectives. The opening slide describes the format, "this tutorial is interactive, it will ask you to complete actions", rather than the outcome. One objective was derived and everything below is scored against it.
The derived objective is procedural, construct an effective topic search, and the course does teach it procedurally: it states the rule, shows a worked example, and has the learner type a real query and submit it. That is the right shape. It covers one search pattern out of the several the task requires, in 46 seconds.
Better than the runtime suggests. There is a simulated interaction, the learner types a query and clicks search, with a corrective prompt on a wrong action. Then one graded item with rule-based feedback, unlimited retries and a plain "Try again." on failure. Two opportunities total, one of them recall-adjacent.
The single item is genuinely well built and scores better than most we see. It asks the learner to pick the best of three search strings; the distractors are phrase quoting and truncation, which are exactly what a searcher trained on another database would try; and the feedback explains the underlying rule rather than announcing a verdict. It is aligned. There is one of it.
Median across the three instructional profiles, spread 28 to 55. Constrained mostly by how little there is to engage with rather than by defects in what exists.
The lowest score in this run and the second reason for the verdict. A fixed 1024×768 canvas with
responsive: false, four narration audio files with no caption track, and a keyboard affordance
that is announced once and never again.
One of the three qualifying conditions is met.
The finding that decides the verdict
The author weighted the question at 10 and set a pass mark of 8. Then both the completion criterion and the success criterion were set to view, at 75% of slides. The graded question must be answered before the course advances, but with three options, unlimited retries and a "Try again." on failure, answering is a formality, and whether it was answered correctly does not reach the record.
The same shape, twice, five years apart
This is the same defect as Case B, produced by a different authoring tool at an unrelated organization. In both cases someone set a pass mark deliberately and the export configuration overrode it with a view-based criterion. Neither would show up in an authoring-tool preview.
The panel
- The rule taught is stated plainly and correctly: be specific, use no punctuation or tags for a simple topic search. A learner with no background can follow it.
- The worked example is concrete. A real two-concept query, typed and submitted, which is the right way to teach a procedure.
- The gap is scope. One search pattern in 46 seconds. A learner who needs to combine three concepts, or filter by date, or find nothing and try again, has been shown the first move and left there.

- Correctly served, arguably. A 46-second refresher is a reasonable format for someone who needs one reminder, and the graded item is the useful part.
- The distractors will land for this learner specifically: anyone who has used a database that rewards phrase quoting or truncation carries that habit across, and this item targets exactly that transfer error.
- No indication of when the interface last changed. The course is built from 151 screen captures of a live third-party system. A practitioner cannot tell whether the screens match what they will see, and screen-capture tutorials of external systems age badly and silently.

- A fixed 1024×768 canvas with
responsive: false. The project scales rather than reflows, so on a 375-pixel viewport the entire course shrinks to 37% of its designed size, text included. - The content is 151 screen captures of a search-results interface. Those are the elements that survive scaling worst, dense small text inside an image, which cannot reflow at all.
- The audience makes this worse than it looks. This teaches a look-it-up skill to people who look things up in the moment, frequently on the device in their hand. The task is mobile; the course excludes mobile.

- The instructional text is short, imperative and concrete, "type this, then click search", which is close to ideal for a non-native reader.
- The snag is a keyboard instruction embedded in feedback: the correct-answer response ends "Click anywhere or press 'y' to continue." The letter is arbitrary, appears once, and is not signposted anywhere else. A reader parsing more slowly is the most likely to miss it and stall on a screen that looks finished.
- Four narration audio files with no caption track, so a reader who would use captions to support comprehension has nothing to read along with.

- The player exposes a full control bar including play, pause, back, forward and a captions toggle, which is a reasonable base.
- The captions toggle has nothing to show. The package contains four narration files and no caption or transcript content anywhere. The caption machinery in the player engine is present, the caption data is not. A learner who turns captions on gets an empty overlay.
- Open question: whether the simulated type-and-click interaction on slides 2–4 can be completed without a pointing device cannot be determined from static inspection. It is the one finding in this report that needs an instrumented run to settle, and we are not going to guess at it.

This learner succeeded, which fails the course.
- Success is recorded for viewing 75% of six slides, five slides. The graded question sits on slide five.
- The question must be answered to advance, but not answered correctly: three options, unlimited retries, "Try again." on failure. Exhaustive clicking resolves it.
- The result never reaches the record regardless. The success criterion is view, not score, so the 80% pass mark has no path to the LMS.

Critical issues, one of three conditions met

Success criterion is view at 75%. The one graded question is answerable by exhaustion and its result is not reported. A learner who clicks through five slides is recorded identically to one who answered correctly first time.

Remediation, ranked by what unblocks the most

What this report does not establish
It is a structured risk screen, not a measurement of learning effectiveness.
We did not listen to the narration. Four audio files are present and we have established that no caption content ships with them. We have not established whether the narration duplicates the on-screen text, if it does, the caption gap is less severe than it looks.
One keyboard question is open. Whether the simulated type-and-click interaction is completable without a pointing device needs an instrumented run. We have left it open rather than guessing.
We tested the package, not the deployment. A platform can impose its own mastery rules on a package that reports a view-based criterion.
The derived objective is our inference. The course states none.
