Learning Preflight™

Stop using your learners as your QA department.

Software gets QA before release. Products get inspected before they ship. Training usually does not. Learning Preflight™ is QA for training: we test the course before rollout, find the problems that could undermine learning, and give you a prioritized plan for fixing them.

And we do it against the artifact your learners receive. We don’t review the course you think you built. We review the package that actually ships. Two of our three published runs failed there, in defects no authoring-tool preview would have shown.

  • Find problems before rollout
  • See exactly where each problem occurs
  • Know what to fix first
  • Retest the revised course at no extra cost

Ten business days · retest included · no critical issue found, no invoice.

For L&D teams, training vendors, agencies and compliance teams with a course that needs to be ready before rollout.

If we don’t find a single critical issue, you don’t pay.

Not a partial refund. No invoice. You keep the full report either way.

A critical issue means one of exactly three things, so there’s nothing to argue about afterwards:

  • A learner can get credit without demonstrating the capability
  • The course requires a prerequisite it never teaches
  • An assessment item tests something the course never covered

Every published run so far has surfaced at least one critical issue. We are not asking you to assume yours will. If we don’t find one, you don’t pay.

The checks

What we check.

Most course reviews ask whether the content looks good. We test whether the learning holds together.

Objectives

Does the course actually teach what it says it teaches?

Capability

Does it give learners what they need to know and do?

Practice

Do they actually get to practice it, with feedback?

Assessment

Does passing mean anything?

Prerequisites

What knowledge does the course quietly assume?

Failure modes

Where can someone get lost, disengage, or game the course?

Instruction

Where are explanations, examples or feedback insufficient?

Here’s what that catches.

Critical: assessment can be passed without learning

Objective
Apply the four-step incident escalation procedure.
Found
The assessment asks learners to recall the names of the four steps, but never requires them to apply the procedure to a scenario.
Why it matters
A learner can earn completion without demonstrating the stated capability.
Recommended fix
Replace the recall item with a scenario requiring the learner to select and sequence the appropriate escalation actions.

That is one finding, in the form you receive it. A report carries every one we find, ranked. Read four complete ones.

The panel

Then six synthetic learners test it.

Each profile approaches the course differently, and each is built around a different way a course fails its reader. Every one of them runs your course three times, so eighteen documented runs per preflight.

One of the six

Minimum Effort

This learner wants to finish as quickly as possible. It skims, skips optional content, looks for shortcuts, and tests whether completion can be earned without demonstrating the intended capability.

If they can get credit without demonstrating the capability, the course is Not Ready for Deployment, regardless of every other score. That clause is absolute.

AI finds. Humans verify.

Synthetic learners surface potential failures. Every critical issue is checked against the actual course package by hand before it reaches your report. We do not forward a model’s opinion and call it a finding.

The verdict

Three possible outcomes.

Cleared for Human Pilot

Ready to put in front of real learners, with evidence behind it.

Ready with Remediation

Fixable. You get the ranked plan, and the retest is included.

Not Ready for Deployment

Something critical is wrong. Better to know now than after rollout.

Cleared for Human Pilot means the course is ready for learner testing. It does not mean we have proven the training changes performance. See exactly how every dimension is scored, and what we don’t claim →

What you actually get

Everything included in one Preflight.

  1. 01

    Learning objective & capability mapping

We reconstruct what the course is actually designed to teach, whether or not it is documented, down to the KSAT level.

  2. 02

    Seven-check instructional audit

Alignment, coverage, practice, assessment, prerequisites, failure modes, instruction.

  3. 03

Synthetic learner panel, 6 profiles × 3 runs

18 documented runs, including the minimum-effort learner.

  4. 04

    Learning Readiness Report™

Scored across seven dimensions, with every finding traced to its source.

  5. 05

    Prioritized remediation plan

Ranked by severity, so you fix what's blocking first.

  6. 06

    Post-remediation retest

We run the revised course again and show you the before/after delta.

Everything above: $1,500 per course, up to 3 hours. Courses longer than 3 hours are quoted above this.

What moves a bulk or retainer quote: how many courses and over what period, how fast you need each one back, whether remediation retests are included, and whether any of it runs on the restricted track.

Limits

What we don’t claim.

  • Preflight does not measure job performance. It evaluates the instructional design of the course, before deployment.
  • Preflight is not an accessibility conformance audit. Two of the six profiles are a keyboard-only user and a touch-only mobile learner, so we surface operability problems, but we do not test with assistive technology and we do not issue a VPAT.
  • Preflight has not been validated against learner outcomes or independent human reviewers. Until that study exists, we make no accuracy claim about the score.

Frequently asked questions.

Isn't this just AI reviewing my course?

No. An AI review reads your content and tells you what it thinks. We reverse-engineer the objectives and required capabilities first, then test whether the instruction, the practice and the assessment actually support them, and then we run simulated learners through it and record what happens. Every critical finding is verified against the package by hand before it reaches you. The output is traced findings, not an opinion.

Do synthetic learners predict how real learners will do?

No, and we won’t claim otherwise. They identify instructional risk before real learners encounter it. Think of it as a test suite: it catches defects, it doesn’t prove the product is good. That is why the top verdict is “Cleared for Human Pilot.”

What does the second course cost? And the tenth?

Less than the first, and the tenth less again. A single course is $1,500 because that is a self-contained piece of work; once you are committing to a set, the setup stops repeating and the price per course comes down with volume. If testing is going to be ongoing, a retainer is usually cheaper than buying in batches and considerably faster.

We're an agency. Can we preflight courses before we deliver them?

Yes, and it is one of the better uses of this. Most agencies end up on a retainer rather than buying course by course. An agreed number of preflights a month, priority turnaround, and nothing leaves your shop untested. The report can carry your branding rather than ours; we will still sign our findings, but the deliverable is yours.

How do we actually buy this? We need a purchase order.

Actyra invoices on delivery of the report, net 30, and we will raise the invoice against your PO number and your supplier onboarding process. For repeat work there is a master services agreement so course two does not repeat the paperwork of course one, and we will sign yours instead if you prefer. We do not hold SOC 2, ISO 27001 or FedRAMP. The data handling page covers what we do have.

Can you preflight a course that isn't in English?

Yes, for the major European languages. The panel reads and responds in the course language rather than translating first, because a course that only makes sense after translation is itself a finding. The report comes back in English unless you ask otherwise, and the second-language profile assumes a reader fluent but not native in the language the course is written in.

How long does it take, and what do you need from me?

Ten business days from receiving the course. We need the course itself in any common format, plus the stated objectives if you have them, and if you don’t, that’s finding number one.

Can you fix what you find?

Yes. The remediation plan is included. Doing the remediation work is a separate engagement, and the retest of your revised course is included either way. We don’t quote remediation up front, and we won’t pretend to. The price depends on what the Preflight finds. You get the ranked fix list first; the quote comes after, when we’re both looking at the same evidence.

We have hundreds of courses, not one.

Then Preflight is the wrong starting point. A library that size needs a Portfolio Intelligence engagement. It starts with what you have and can still open, then maps capability coverage across the whole portfolio.

Ready to Preflight a course?

One course. Seven instructional checks. Eighteen synthetic learner runs. A scored readiness report and a ranked fix list, in ten business days.
